Bloodlust for Apartment 7A Read Along | Week One

Welcome back to our weekly read along! This week we’re starting Bloodlust for Apartment 7A by Jade Christy. This book has won some awards recently, and I am so excited to dive into the story with you guys.

For this week, we are reading up to Chapter Nine.

Bloodlust for Apartment 7A: Alexa and Sebastian

We start with Alexa Hart, recently divorced with seven days to move out of her house and find a new place to live. Thankfully, there doesn’t seem to be a lot of hard feelings at the end of her marriage, which allows us to run into a new romance without ill intentions. And of course, it’s the perfect set up for our MMC to swoop in and save the day, to force their proximity.

Alexa’s Bookstore Community and the Paris Connection

Alexa also has a nice community around her at her bookstore, with her regulars and her employee/friend Jett, who creates wonderful comic relief. The Paris background is a great link to our mysterious MMC, Sebastian, and his former life/former love in Paris.

The Mysterious Tenants at Ravenwood

Sebastian also has an interesting community in his building, starting with Mr. Bell. I’m curious over what kind of creature he is. We know that Sebastian is a vampire, and the he has vampire tenants. But I don’t think Bell is one of them. I do love an odd character, but I don’t predict that we will know much about him in this book since this is a four book series.

The Longing Between Alexa and Sebastian

The best part of this story so far is the longing. Alexa longing for something more. And Sebastian longing for her. Obsessing over her.

I don’t think this will be a book full of action. It’s more character depth and emotional development.

The Mystery of the Flower Deliveries

There’s also the thread of the mysterious flower deliveries. It’s not Sebastian, so…who is it? We get a few of her regulars that it could be, so I’m curious. I’m pretty sure we won’t know more until at least the next section of the book, if not the last third.

The Gothic Atmosphere of Bloodlust for Apartment 7A

The other main thread of Bloodlust is the atmospheric writing. Both modern and gothic, the architecture and characters mannerisms, it all blends well with the slow development of the story.

Lucien, Sebastian, and the Tenants of Ravenwood

I am, of course, a bit worried about the tenants at Ravenwood. We see them showcased in the meeting to warn them about the human about to live in their midst. Lucien…is worrisome, but I’m intrigued. How did Sebsastian wrong him, and what exactly is he plotting revenge for? Will both Bell and Sebastian’s threats be enough to keep Alexa safe?

Lucien seems to be the exact opposite of Sebastian. Wild, gluttonous, animalistic hidden behind polish and charm. Will Alexa be fooled by him? At the moment, I don’t find him too threatening, but maybe I’m misreading his character.

A Slow-Burn Vampire Romance

Since this is such a slow build, a simmering tale of old love, romance, and revenge, I’m curious as to where we will end up at the end of this book, and how much MORE will happen after it. I suppose we will see.
