Heavenly Bodies by Imani Erriu | Read Along Week Three
Welcome back to week three of our Heavenly Bodies read along by Imani Erriu. It happened again. A massive cliffhanger right where we stop. It’s like the universe is taunting me because I NEED TO KNOW WHAT HAPPENS.
I guess I’ll find out next week, won’t I?
If you’re loving layered fantasy worlds like this, our March fantasy romance book box featuring Songbird of the Sorrows by Braidee Otto is now available.
Lukas, Shadows, and Lingering Questions
Let’s go back to that previous cliffhanger: Lukas.
What a chump. And by that, I mean the man his shadows have turned him into.
We do get a glimpse of the old him when he asks Elara for help, but otherwise? Not great choices, sir.
Which makes me wonder—what exactly is happening with his shadows? We’re told early on they can corrupt. So does that mean there are protections? A cure? A way to fight it?
Lukas claims he didn’t call the Star to kill Elara’s parents. That he didn’t betray her.
Is that true?
If so…who did?
Was it the corrupted version of him? Or is something even bigger at play?
The Stars and the Bigger Plan
Based on Elara’s conversation with two of the Stars, it’s clear there’s a larger divine game unfolding.
What are the gods planning for her?
When will we find out?
There’s secrecy layered over secrecy—hidden motives, manipulated fate, and too many possible paths. Even the seer says Elara has too many choices to properly predict her future.
Too many choices.
Whose fault is that?
The Stars.
I don’t trust them. Not one bit.
And Merissa being a Star’s daughter? What does that mean for Elara and Enzo? Is she loyal—or playing a long game?
This section of Heavenly Bodies by Imani Erriu raises more questions than answers, and honestly? I love that kind of layered fantasy storytelling.
Capture, Escape, and Emotional Build-Up
A lot technically happens in this section—capture, torture, Sophia’s death, faking her own death, venom recovery, and escape—but it doesn’t feel action-heavy.
Instead, the real progression happens emotionally.
We see trust building between Elara and Enzo. Feelings surfacing. Walls lowering.
And that slow-burn tension? Still simmering.
The Romance in Week Three
This might be my favorite part of week three of our Heavenly Bodies read along: the romance.
The caretaking.
The closeness.
The festival performance.
The tenderness underneath all the danger.
The kiss was satisfying—but I’m still craving more.
Will we get something bigger before the end of book one? Maybe. Maybe not. This is a series, after all, and slow burns can stretch beautifully (and painfully).
Final Thoughts Before the Finale
At this point, I have more questions than answers—and I am absolutely primed to finish this story immediately.
But alas. Responsibilities. Life. The audacity of adulthood.
