Meet Author Aspen Black
Aspen Black is often described as kooky by her friends. She writes the stories that have floated continuously in her imagination since she was a child. She's a lemonade addict that really shouldn't be allowed near lemons.
Being an introvert, she spends most of her time writing and reading her favorite books. She has a mini zoo at home and has an odd obsession with pandas.
Interview With Aspen Black:
Q: Hi Aspen! Can you tell us a little about yourself?
AB: Hi! I’m Aspen. I currently reside within Arizona. It’s not fun in the summer. Don’t let people tell you it’s a dry heat, because when monsoon season comes around, it’s humid and hot. I help take care of my mom, so our house is a little over run with our dogs. She brought four dogs with her when she moved, adding to my two dogs and one cat. Oh boy.
I write mostly UF/Paranormal/Fantasy in Reverse Harem. I grew up with the heroine always having to choose and I hated that. Why couldn’t she have all the guys who completed her in different ways?
Q: Why paranormal? What drew you to the genre?
AB: Paranormal has always been my favorite genre to read. I love being able to escape into a world where magic, shifters, and any other type of magical creature is real.
Q: Tell us about your heroine. What inspired her quirks and struggles
AB: Iris is what I would want to be if I was a witch. She’s obsessed with fluffy slippers. Her best friend is a magical Venus Flytrap, and she has sass when it comes to her weight. Her struggles are more the line of, what I feel like every woman goes through, how can these guys like me? For this character I really wanted to focus on her internal mental growth, realizing that it’s okay to trust.
Q: What is a typical writing day like for you? What inspires you?
AB: A typical writing day for me (on my days off from the day job) is I’ll get up, breakfast, write a bit, get lost in the world of Facebook, write a bit more, get distracted with research, followed by a nap. When I wake from the nap, I’m usually sprinting in discord with a few other authors for the rest of the night.
Q: What is your favorite part of being a published author?
AB: Mmm. You know, that’s a loaded question since there are so many. My all time favorite? That’s when a reader tells me they love my books. I can’t tell you how many times I found myself doubting my books. Would someone like them? Does everyone hate them? So, when a reader lets me know they enjoyed the book and the characters, it really makes it worthwhile.
Thank you for hanging out with us!
