(Changed Book 1)
by Heather MacKinnon

She's being hunted.

Adrienne never knew vampires were more than myth until she woke up as one. Problem is, she's alone, with no explanation for her newfound senses and abilities.

Thankfully Nicholas finds her before it's too late. He offers to take her under his wing and teach her all she needs to know–an offer she can't refuse. Now all she needs to do is keep her fantasies about her new maker to herself.

But, a budding romance with Nicholas is the least of her problems. The vampire who Changed her is back and he's not afraid to hurt those closest to her in order to get what he wants.

Can they find this mysterious vampire before he finds Adrienne? Can Nicholas keep her safe until the threat is eliminated? Or will outside forces tear them apart?

Excerpt from Blood Debt:

Nicholas smiled, thanked him, and walked me out of the office. On our way back to the elevators I asked, “Why was he so surprised you were fostering me?”

Nicholas sighed. “I don’t make new vampires and I certainly don’t foster them.”

“Why not?”

He sighed again. “I don’t make them because I don’t want to, and I don’t foster because I’ve never felt compelled to. I like my solitary life and its uncomplicated nature. I’ve never wanted to babysit someone else’s mistake.”

I stopped dead in my tracks. He thought I was a mistake? That I was complicating his life?

Seeing how his words affected me, Nicholas immediately backtracked. “No, no, no, Adrienne. That came out wrong. In the past I’ve never been compelled to step in and foster a new vampire. It’s different with you.”

That explained nothing.

“What’s so different about me? Why make an exception now?”

Nicholas stilled, his eyes searching my face. He took a cautious step toward me. His hand reached out to touch my face but stopped and dropped to his side before it hit its mark. That same hand ran through his hair.

“Everything is different about you, Adrienne. I can’t explain it properly. I just feel like I’m meant to be here with you. Since I met you, all I’ve wanted to do is be near you.” His last sentence came out in a whisper. Without my vampire hearing, I’m not sure I would have heard him at all.

Meet Author Heather MacKinnon

Heather MacKinnon is a romance author living in North Carolina with her husband, adorable son, and two trouble making dogs. She grew up on Long Island and spent her young adult years living in various states in New England. This led to her subsequent addiction to Dunkin' Donuts lattes and her gratuitous use of the word “wicked”. After a lifetime of enjoying other people's words, she decided to write down some of her own.

Interview with Heather MacKinnon:

Q: Hi, Heather! Tell us a little more about yourself.

HM:  Hi! My name is Heather and I’m a romance author who’s lived in a lot of places. I write paranormal and contemporary romance. I’m in love with my author tagline because I feel like it really eloquently describes what I write. It’s putting love into words. And that’s what I do. I take two people and I bring you along as they fall in love. It’s sometimes messy, sometimes beautiful, and sometimes heartbreaking, but it’s always worth it!

Q: For those who are new to your books, what is the story about?

HM:  This story is about a woman named Adrienne whose life is changed forever when she bumps into the wrong person on a dark New York City street. She wakes up after her attack with strange new abilities and skills with no explanation for them. That is until Nicholas finds her. He can’t resist the beautiful new vampire, but can he let her in after being alone for centuries?

Q: Tell us about your heroine. What inspired her quirks and struggles?

HM:  Adrienne hasn’t been anywhere that felt like home since her parents died. That is until she meets Nicholas. He’s the only thing that makes her feel safe in the chaotic new life she’s been thrust into. She’s looking for her place in the world and it might just be beside Nicholas.

Q: Tell us about your hero. What motivates him?

HM:  Nicholas lost so much the night his humanity was stolen from him. It’s colored his life in shades of gray and left him lonely in a city full of people. When Adrienne shows up, he feels alive for the first time since he lost his human life. Keeping her safe and happy are his only goals, but with forces working against him, he feels more helpless than he has in centuries.

Q: What is a typical writing day like for you? What inspires you?

HM:  Well, I’m a full-time mom as well as being a full-time author, so my day revolves around my one-year old son. But I sneak in work as often as I can. During mealtimes, I play whatever playlist is currently inspiring me, and a notepad is never far. As soon as he’s down for a nap, I’m in my office, getting as many words down as I can. I try to only write when he’s sleeping and quit for the night as soon as he goes to bed. That way I get some time for myself too!

Q: Where can our readers find you? (Social media, website, etc.)

HM:  Everything you need to know about me and my books is at
