Our interview with Gena D Lutz:

Firstly, tell us about your book/series.

Ember’s Curse is an adult paranormal romance. It centers on Ember Dawn Stilwell and her pack…the Prime wolves. In this story you follow along with her and her motley crew of friends as they try to right grievous wrongs, exact retribution, and fall head over heels in love.

What are you working on at the moment?

I am currently working on Roxanne Desired. It’s the second book of The Prime Wolf series. I am hoping for a mid-summer release.

What inspired you to become a writer?

I began writing at a very young age. I wrote mostly short stories and poetry from what my mother tells me.

How long have you been writing?

My first actual memory of writing was at around 7 or 8 years old. My mother was in a very violent relationship and I remember making our garage my sanctuary from the abuse. I wrote a poem, The Perfect Lie, for my mother. I guess it was my way of trying to communicate with her; a confused child’s attempt at trying to share her feelings about a very adult situation.

What is your relationship with your characters? Do you have a favorite? Is there one that you find a bit more difficult?

My favorite is Harper. I have a very gentle nature for the most part. Harper is wild, crazy, and has no filter. I think it would be fun to drop my inhibition and be Harper for a day.

Is there anything that you find challenging about being a writer?

I live in a house filled with people. The hardest challenge for me at the moment is finding some peace and quiet time to write.

Do you write freehand at all or straight onto your pc?

I write straight to my pc.

Do you have a strict writing routine/word count per day?

I do. I like to write at least 500 words per day. Do I always meet that goal? Nope…I blame it on my addiction to Facebook.

What do you think causes people’s enduring fascination with vampires?

The answer to this question is easy…Immortality. The thought of death or dying scares the crap out most people. We have a deep-seated instinct to survive. So it’s my belief that our fears and our nature gravitates us towards the possibility (even if it’s very unlikely) of living forever.

Do you have any plans to write in a different genre in the future?

I am in LOVE with PNR. All the stories that clog my brain are all forms of PNR. I have a secret project in the works, a Paranormal Fantasy. It’s titled Embraced by Blood.

Are you also an avid reader? What are you reading at the moment?

I love to settle in with a good book. Unfortunately I can’t write while I am reading. I need to stay completely focused on the worlds I am building. I try to cram in a few books in between projects though. My favorite authors are Stephen King and Sherrilyn Kenyon.

The vampires are attacking! Grab the first thing you see to your right and hit them with it! What was it? And how do you think you did in the ensuing fight?

It was my bottle of Versace Bright Crystal. Consider me a Vampire’s juice box.

You are planning an awesome dinner party. Which 3 celebrities/fictional characters/historical figures (past or present) would you add to your guest list?

Marilyn Monroe…Acheron(Dark Hunters)…Anne Rice.

Can you give us five random facts about yourself?

1.My favorite color is pink… 2. I am a café mocha addict… 3. I have to watch Nick at Night while I am falling asleep… 4. My lucky number is 13… 5. My all-time favorite Vampire movie is Interview with a Vampire.
