Liquor & Lit: Blood Flame

bloodflameAnyone who stalks us on Facebook (stalk us here) knows we love playing amateur Mixologists and, if this writing gig doesn’t work out, we’re pretty sure we can make it as bartenders! (LOL) So when NY Times Bestselling Author, Caris Roane, asked us to make some fabulous drinks for the books in her Flame series, we couldn't resist. Our response was “Flame Drinks? Um, YEAH!” We have now added pyromaniacs to our resume. Brenda has yet to grow back her eyebrows, but the fun we had was well worth the loss of hair.

We wanted to make something deliciously sinful with just the right amount of sweet and spice. Seemed appropriate, given the seductive magic and man candy Caris writes about in her awesome series. So, after many trips to the liquor store, standing in awkward positions in the dark with our trusty phone cameras and a flashlight, we created the Flame Drinks. Of course, the cool magical props and post production helped create an unforgettable image, but what really did the trick was the bottle of Bacardi 151 we expended getting just the right flame, and the glitter that still covers our hands.

Bella Media ManagementOur first drink is named after the first book in her series: BLOOD FLAME. In this novel, vampire Officer Connor—of the Crescent Border Patrol—tries to suppress his desire for the powerful witch, Iris Meldeere, who possesses the ability to kill him with the tips of her fingers. How could he possibly fall in love with her? When a double homicide throws them together, he soon finds his deepest fantasies fulfilled as Iris succumbs to his seductions. But as they battle together to stay alive, and love begins to consume them both, will the witch be able to forgive the dark secrets of his past?

Much like the heat between Connor and Iris, this drink will set your taste buds afire. A yummy concoction with just the right amount of tequila and the wickedly delicious Solerno Blood Orange Liqueur. Our Blood Flame is as smooth to look at as it is to drink. We recommend fresh blood orange juice if you can find it. If not, we found some great blood orange soda at World Market. Pellegrino also makes a good blood orange sparkling drink.

On a side note, Caris said Solerno over vanilla ice cream was fantastic. Awesome idea and we can’t wait to try it!

We plan to serve Blood Flame at our spook-tacular Halloween party! If you try this drink and are craving more, we’ll be back next week. In the meantime, download this sizzling, action-packed romance!

We hope you have as much fun tasting this little bit of liquid loveliness as much as we did making it. ENJOY! And if you DO make the drink, we'd love to hear your comments!

XOXO,

T&J

bren tami bbqBrenda (right) is a Southern California girl and Tami (left) grew up in Georgia, but their life journeys led them both to Texas and one another. They became fast friends and now refer to one another as their BFF (Best Fucking Friend). Neither Brenda nor Tami grew up writing stories or dreaming of one day being authors, but that changed when they shared a joint dream of creating a world filled with dangerously handsome supernaturals.  Now, six books later, they have more book ideas than there are hours in the day.
