by USA Today Bestselling Author Maya Daniels

Would you be willing to die for a chance to live?

April has struggled her entire life to survive hiding in the shadows. Now she finds herself with a powerful Primus of the underworld who claims she is a long lost matron of their kind.

For years, the elders of the eight thrones have oppressed the humans. The ones with rare blood type have proven deadly for the vampire kind, hence they are bent on eliminating them all. Those they haven't destroyed are used to satiate their blood lust.

As word spreads of a new blood rising to dethrone the monsters who have wreaked havoc on humanity, a revolution brews in the underworld. One human girl is caught in the fray.

Did April survive all her struggles in order to become a sacrificial lamb for a fight that isn't her own?

No matter what the intriguing vampire has to offer, she must do everything to escape her fate.

Excerpt from Rebirth:

“What's going on here?” My voice cracks, but I don't care how pathetic I sound. “Why am I here? And why haven't you killed me yet?”

“I have no intention of killing you, April,” Sebastian murmurs, his breath softly tickling my neck. How the hell did I end up this close to him? “Nor will I allow anyone to hurt you in any way. I know you don't believe me, but you will. Soon you will believe everything, I promise.”

“I can tell you now that that's never going to happen.”

“Au contraire, my dear. I assure you that you will see things in a very different way.”

The tip of his nose touches my skin, his mouth with those vicious fangs the size of my pinky too close for comfort to my neck. That reminds me of my stench, and I try to shrink away from him. I'm not sure if these monsters can read minds, but he definitely read mine.

“You should go and have a shower.” When those hurtful words are spoken, I yank myself away from him, but he doesn't let go. We face each other, the tips of our noses almost touching when he murmurs. “It doesn't bother me. It was smart to hide your scent. It kept you hidden and alive. That is no longer necessary. Now, I will protect you. Besides…” Pulling back a little, my stomach does a somersault when those full lips slowly curl up at the corners. “Nothing can hide your alluring scent from me.” I gulp air, but he keeps me prisoner with his smoldering gaze. “Nothing.”

He had his wish come true.

I finally believe his words.

He will never let me go.

Interview with Maya Daniels:

Q: Hi Maya! Tell us a little more about yourself.

MD:  I often refer to myself as a traveler. I’m originally from Europe but moved to Australia at the age of two, where I lived most of my life. That’s where I graduated as a medical doctor, but instead of  working in the hospital I pursued journalism. End of 2004 that path took me around the globe from Asia, Europe, Africa and to the Middle East for a few years. In 2011 I made the United States my home and I’ve lived here ever since. Blending my love for travel and adventure in my writing affords me the freedom to create quirky, funny, amazing characters who are constantly yapping inside my head until I give in and tell their story. I love romance and bringing sassy hybrids to life. Strong, albeit broken female leads is my thing. Being an introvert (I know an author being an introvert, shocking lol) I’m very quirky myself so I want to make those like me find characters that they resonate with. My go to genres are urban fantasy and paranormal romance, although I love mixing them up by adding suspense, lots of humor and mystery at a breakneck speed that will leave you gasping by the time the last page is read. Life is hard on all of us and I’d like to think that for those few hours when you immerse yourself in the worlds I create, I’ve helped you forget about everything else around you. Books are a wonderful escape and I myself often disappear in them. I’m just one of the lucky ones that gets to share the stories rattling in her head with everyone. I truly feel blessed that this is my life now.

Q: Tell us about your publishing journey. Did you always want to be an author?

MD:  I always wanted to be a reader to start with LoL Books have been  my passion since I can remember. Being very curious by nature I knew I wanted to discover and tell stories but novels were never something I thought I’d be writing. That’s why I often say I’m not an author or a writer, I’m a storyteller. The word itself gives me that warm feeling inside which keeps me going through all the pressure in this industry. As for the start of my writing career, would it be funny to say I started it when I was eight? That’s when I won my first award for a poem I wrote about bees of all things. I’ve always written bits and pieces here and there to feed my passion. Mostly poems when I was younger, with prose later on in life.  My love for stories took me to a career in investigative journalism for quite a few years, but eventually that was what lead me to where I am today. I was traditionally published from 2016 until 2018.That’s when I found my tribe in the indie group 20booksto50K, and a whole new world opened in front of me. I learned so much about publishing from fellow authors in all stages of their journey, and I truly believe if anyone is serious about the stories they write, they need to start there. It’s an infinite pool of knowledge and support and I wouldn’t be who I am today without it. From there, I pulled back my series that were published at the time and self-published my first book in January 2019. It was the best decision I’ve made in my life. Since then I’ve become a USA Today bestseller, and I have multiple series published as well as couple of collaborations.

Q: Why paranormal? What drew you to the genre?

MD:  I love anything supernatural, and I’ve been a UF and PNR reader from an early age. I’m not sure I can write in a genre that I’m not crazy in love with. I breathe these genres, not just read and write them.

Q: Tell us about your heroine. What inspired her quirks and struggles?

MD:  Rebirth, as well as the New Blood Rising came to me out of a dream. I woke up one morning and scribbled the outline for it before I had a chance to fully open my eyes. I never question why I have an urge to write any specific book at the time. Whichever character is ready will have their story on paper. April might’ve come in a dream but as I started working on the story she truly became someone I admire. She was abandoned by everyone she trusted because her blood means death to those who will keep her hidden from the Council, yet she never stopped fighting to stay alive and protect those weaker than her. With each obstacle she becomes stronger instead of giving up. By the end, when her destiny is revealed, everything she has done and been through helps her protect the family she’s made for herself. From hiding in the underground tunnels and sewers, to sitting on a throne and ruling the monsters who scared her for most of her life, she never changed who she really is. It’s a story mostly about love and loyalty, and that family is not a blood relative but those you choose and are connected to your heart and soul.

Q: Name a few of your favorite authors or books.

MD:  I’m one of those whale readers so I have a lot of favorite authors that I look up to and admire. I’ll try to list a few because adding them all might turn into a novel.

Dannika Dark, Alanea Alder, KF Breene, K. M Moaning, Shanon Mayer, Shayne Silvers, JR Ward, Kim Harrison, Ilona Andrews, Cloe Neill, Jeanine Frost, Amelia Hutchins, Linsey Hall, Deborah Wilde, May Sage, Jasmine Walt… I can keep going, but that’s just from the top of my head.  I’ll read anything these authors release, they are amazing and insanely talented.

Q: Where can our readers find you?

MD:  I’m usually hiding in my cave, writing. When I do emerge, I’m often chatting in my readers group Maya’s sassy rebels, posting on my author page or the rest of my social media. I have a presence on Facebook, Instagram, Tweeter, TikTok and YouTube. My website keeps readers updated on what’s coming next or any exciting things happening with my books. There is an option there to join my newsletter for those that want to be first in getting snippets of books, cover reveals or announcements before they go public.

Thanks for chatting with us today, Maya!
