Weavingshaw Read Along | Week Two
Slow Burn Tension, Demon Secrets & Silas POV
Welcome back to Week Two of our read along for Weavingshaw by Heba Al-Wasity. I am hooked. The slow-burn build of both the danger and the romance is killing me in the best way.
If you love fantasy romance books packed with mystery, atmosphere, and simmering tension, this story keeps delivering.
Hargreaves’s POV Changed Everything
Let’s start with my distraction of the week: the chapter in Hargreaves’s POV.
I mean, it’s great information—the background on the Wake, how Avon died (or by whose hand), and the introduction of the demon.
This is where things get interesting.
I love that the otherworldly hint has come to roost in this section. And the introduction of the limitless vessel has me thinking.
Is this an object—like the red diary Avon had before his death, what Leena’s new ghost needs to bring Avon back—or is it…Leena?
Is Leena the Limitless Vessel?
I’m leaning toward Leena, simply because it would be the most dangerous outcome for her and would create the most tension and suspense.
Plus, it would be an excellent link to her ability to be possessed by ghosts.
Which also has me thinking: will Avon attempt to possess her when they get there? Or the drowned wife?
So many things are possible right now that my imagination is going wild.
Always a good sign for a book.
The Watch, the Neighbor & Demon Connections
I’m also curious about her old neighbor and the watch she’s given to Leena.
The Fray—aka the demon king that has the Silent Saint on a tight leash—makes me wonder what connections the old woman has to the demon since the watch is her husband’s. A man who has passed.
There are too many threads here for that detail not to matter later.
Rami, Martin & Rising Stakes
Overall, I am excited about all of the background information we’ve been given and how things are beginning to connect.
Like Martin being this rich man who keeps climbing, a newer member of the Wake, and how he paid to have Leena’s brother throw a fight.
Which Rami did not do, thus handing himself over to be beaten and presented to the prick.
Leena and St. Silas go and save him, killing and burying a young man in the process.
Once again, I see how these two characters are connected, bonding themselves together—even after she held him at gunpoint.
Theodore the Ghost Has My Attention
I’m also super intrigued by the ghost and his connection to St. Silas.
Obviously, they grew up together and were sold to the demon as a pair, but where did they come from?
How did Theodore come to be a ghost haunting Orley?
Why does he want to protect Leena?
How is he keeping the other ghosts at bay?
Does it have to do with the demon being his cause of death—or his connection to St. Silas?
I need answers.
Bram St. Silas POV Was Gold
And the chapter in Bram St. Silas’s POV was gold.
I am rooting for this man even harder because of it.
I want Leena to be the key to his killing the demon, but the question is—at what cost?
Because the tension between these two is growing so nicely.
The offhand comments he makes to tease her, how she’s finally seeing him as a man instead of a monster, and that boy he saved.
I might be falling in love with him a little bit, too.
Why the Romance Tension Is Working
It was nice to see the other side of him—that he yearns for her, that she could be his weakness.
It’s intriguing, and I want more.
More. More. More.
There is so much more that’s gone on in this book’s first half that I can’t even dig into. I simply don’t have the time, but it all adds up to such great atmosphere, character development, and tension.
I cannot wait to see what happens next.
