I Love Vampire Novels Reading Challenge 2023!

Announcing our new reading challenge for 2023!

This is our first reading challenge, so we’re really excited to share this with our reader friends. We know how easy it is to get obsessed with reading challenges and putting this one together has been next-level fun!

We have twelve prompts, all of them vague enough that we have some wiggle room, but specific enough to hit some of our favorite tropes and genres and creatures at I Love Vampire Novels.

We hope these are pretty self-explanatory, so read at your own risk!

Let’s get into it!

Winter/Frost: These can be words in the title, elements of the cover, reference the setting or season of the story, or the name of a character.

Fated Mates: No matter the creature or circumstance, if the protagonists are meant for each other, it works for this prompt. Take it as seriously as you want.

Sassy Lead: Paranormal books have plenty of sassy leads to choose from. Dig into that sharp banter and off-hand comments. We’re here for that snark!

Indie Author: Give an independent or self-published author a chance!

Morally Grey Character: Good guys doing bad things, and bad guys doing good things. Pick a main character that straddles the line.

Non-Wolf Shifter: Read a story about the lesser-utilized shifter creatures. We’re talking felines, coyotes, bears, and every other creature you can think of, so long as it’s not a wolf.

Underwater: Dip your toes into another world. Discover a sunken city, travel with mermaids, or find a retelling of Poseidon. Just make sure you don’t stay dry.

Magic: It all counts: witches, warlocks, vampires, shifters, werewolves, and fae. If it features something a bit more special than the regular world, read it for this prompt!

Dark Academia: School is in session, so join your characters as they gain their education, whether they go to learn about their powers or struggle to hide them.

Moon: The best way to complete this is to read a book that has a moon on the cover. There are so many! But it can be a moon-related word in the title or about a creature guided by the moon’s power, too.

Nocturnal Creatures: Read a book about creatures that are up when the sun is down.

Dark: You have your pick with this one. Read a book with a dark cover, with a dark romance, with dark elements, set at night, or with the word dark in the title. Use your imagination for this one.

Super easy, right?

All right, our pick for January is by Karpov Kinrade, Court of Nightfall. We chose this because it fit many themes, but mainly we feel it fits the Morally Grey Character theme.

Tag us at @ILoveVampireNovels to share your pick.

Keep an eye out for our official book club announcement in January, and happy reading!
